I don't know anything about how any of the college teams are doing this
year, so I based my college picks on (roughly) the same methodology that I've
been using for my pro picks week after week:
I collected the rankings together for rushing and passing, offense and defense,
together in a spreadsheet Example: Air Force is ranked:
Rushing defense
95th
Passing defense
92nd
Rushing offense
3rd
Passing offense
113th
I weighted the rank of each category:
- 35% Rushing defense (if you can't stop the run, you're cooked!)
- 30% Passing defense (defense wins games more often than offense)
- 20% Rushing offense (if you can't establish a running game...)
- 15% Passing offense (bottom of the list)
I added these four scores together to come up with my weighted "score".

= 33.25
Passing defense

x 0.30
= 27.6
Rushing offense

x 0.20
= 0.6
Passing offense

x 0.15
= 16.95
Total score
= 78.4
I sorted the list by score, giving the highest rank to the lowest total
score.
Whichever team had the highest rank in a bowl game is whom I picked to win.
